Start your morning above the Mara
A Masai Mara balloon safari begins long before sunrise.
After an early-morning pick-up from your lodge or camp, you make your way to the launch site as the Mara slowly begins to wake. Watch the balloon come to life before climbing aboard and rising gently into the morning sky.
As the sun breaks across the horizon, the landscape stretches beneath you — winding rivers, open plains, forests and wildlife moving through the reserve.
Every flight is different. The route is guided by the wind, making each journey its own adventure.
After approximately one hour in the air, celebrate the experience with a champagne bush breakfast before continuing with the rest of your day in the Mara.

What to Expect on Your Balloon Safari
Early-Morning Pick-Up
Your day begins early. Once we know where you are staying, we will arrange your pick-up time based on the location of your lodge or camp and the balloon launch site.
Pick-up times generally range from approximately 3:30 AM to 6:00 AM.
Arrival & Pre-Flight Briefing
On arrival, you will meet the balloon team and receive a safety briefing before the flight. You will also have the opportunity to watch the balloon being prepared for take-off.
Take Off at Sunrise
Flights generally take off around sunrise, subject to weather conditions. As the balloon rises, the landscape gradually opens beneath you.
Approximately One Hour in the Air
Your flight typically lasts around one hour, although the exact duration and route depend on weather and flying conditions.
Celebration Breakfast
After landing, enjoy a memorable breakfast experience and take a moment to celebrate your adventure before continuing with your day.
Return to Your Lodge or Continue Your Safari
Following the experience, arrangements can be made for your return to your lodge or camp, or for you to continue with the rest of your safari itinerary.
